Valentine's Day

Good Morning Dolls,

Happy Valentine's Day!  What are your plans for tonight?!  Unforunately I won't be celebrating with my Honey this year as I am in Mesa, Arizona and he is back home in Winnipeg, but I did make sure to leave him a gift hidden in the house and directions on how to find it!

Actually, I left him 30 little notes!  That's right, I wrote 30 3 x 3 notes for him and sealed them in Stampin'Up's! 3x3 Envelopes and I decorated and wrote a message in each of them!  Today's note will lead him to his gift!  I have often times left home to go on different trips, but this is the first time I have ever left him something like this.  Here's what inspired me:

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou

SO!  My challenge to you today is to go to your craft room, or kitchen table, or basement and make a card for someone just because.  A card that tells them that you think they are special!

Phoenix Regionals

Hi Dolls!

Today I have some pictures to share with you from the Regional here in Phoenix Arizona last Saturday February 11!  It was a great day with awesome make and take projects, inspiring presentations, good food and best of all, time spent with friends!

Throughout the day, we were able to do things "My Way" and for those of you who haven't heard that saying before, that is Stampin'Up!'s theme for 2012....doing things "My Way"....meaning "Your Way"  lol

There were make and take tables set up, demonstration booths, sample boards, a card contest, swaps and some great presenters!  So, after our welcoming message, I headed to the Make and Take table where we made these two gorgeous and fun cards!  

After Make and Takes I headed over to the demonstration booths to take in some of the fun tips and tricks that some of our fellow Demonstrators had for us.  It was a toss up between my two favorites....

I have always admired Diana Gibbs' water coloring techniques so it was a great honour to watch her in action!  I learned a great many things from here demo and will therefore be announcing a water coloring class for you ladies in March!  Here are a few water colored cards by Diana!

My other favorite demo was a duo.....Mercedes Person and Duana Foster, sisters from Arizona and North Carolina.  These two were gorgeous, and talented and priceless!  I loved loved loved their fabric flower creations using chiffon!  That is why I will be announcing a flower fabric accessory class in March as well!  Here are a few pictures of their projects!

Mouth Watering Scratch and Sniff Cherries

Today I am actually in Phoenix Arizona at the Phoenix Regional put on by Stampin'Up!  I'm so excited to be able to take part in this event since it has been 4 years since there has been one back home in Winnipeg......we'd love to have you back SU!....hint hint!  lol

So, I will have some fun pics for you tomorrow of our make and takes and the sample boards!  For today, I have another Shoe Box Swap card to share with you.  This card features the cherries from the Mouth Watering stamp set and the Sweet Shoppe designer series paper and Jelly Bean brads.

The cherries have been heat embossed using our Cherry scented embossing powder from the 2012 Occasions mini catalogue.  It's a Scratch and Sniff card!  How fun!

The tour guide told us that an episode of Sesame Street was taped in the cave back in the 80's and they used this room where there is a hole that looks like "Big Bird"  In the episode Big Bird got scared and ran right through the cave wall.....check it out!  Do you see it?!

My Digital Cutie

Hey Dolls!

Good news!  Today Miss Ava was feeling a littlet better and I was able to get a few pages done!  Its so nice to be able to use all my free time to do something I WANT to do and not something I HAVE to do!  Vacation is great!  Here is one of the pages I completed today!

I'm really pleased with the way this page turned out!  The background Designer Series Paper is from our Downtown Grunge Digital Kit (this is one of my favorites!)  The Other Designer Series Papers are from our Noteworthy Digital Kit.  The embellishments on the page are our Staples and Stitching, Deck The Halls Designer Buttons and White Bakers Twine.  The lone stamp on the page is Chat Room Baby Brush Set.  If you're wondering about colors, they are Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler.  The font I used was downloaded from a free font site called Amanda and Kevin.  I love love love the fonts on that site -- it is definitely worth checking out!

Hello Dolls!

So today is somewhat of an atypical post for me.  I was sitting here this morning, while Ava was napping, trying to figure out what I wanted to share with you in my post today.  While I was playing on our My Digital Studio site, reading some of the comments in our forum I came across something brand new to me called Wordle!

Yes....WORDLE!  What is wordle you ask?!  Well, let me tell you!  Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

Here is an example of what a Wordle looks like!

The one other thing that I found out that you will need in order to make Wordle work for you, is a screenshot program.  The one that I downloaded for free is called Greenshot and was recommended by the gal on MyDigitalStudio.net.  It seems to work great....so far!

So, I created this word cloud to go with this LadyBug photo of Ava from Halloween.  

I have only scratched the surface of the fun that can be had with this program!  I am so excited to create a digital page with it!  I am going to try to have the page itself completed tonight so that I can share it with you tomorrow!

Morning Dolls!

Ok, seriously, have you seen the two new Gnome sets in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalogue-- Gnome Sweet Gnome and Gnomenclature?!  They are seriously hilarious!  Here is what they look like!

At first I thought to myself, what would I do with this set?! but then I saw a whole bunch of cute samples at Leadership, and, as always, I was sold!

 

 

Ok, so you can now understand why, when I got here to Mesa and started seeing everyone's lawn ornaments, that I nearly rolled out of the car laughing when I found these:

The cactus and the palm trees here are just awesome, but in the same park where I found the Gnomes I saw this priceless cactus just asking me to take a picture!

We didn't do too much today except a little car tour and then some shopping.  Just recently I put Ava in her first shopping cart at Costco and she absolutely LOVED it.  So today at Walmart, I knew she would love another ride.  Check out these pics of my cutsie bum!

Good Morning Dolls!

Today is packing day and by this time tomorrow I will be off to Mesa Arizona for a whole month!  I just realized that this means that in less than 24 hours I will not have to scrub a poopy diaper for a WHOLE month!  You see, we won't have any laundry down there, so I will have to leave Ava's cloth diapers at home and make the switch to disposables for a bit.  I think it will be a nice break!

With all my heart Wednesday

Good Morning Dolls,

Today I wanted to show you another option using the Take it to Heart stamp set, using a very different color combination from yesterday!

Today's card using Pretty in Pink and Pear Pizazz card stock and ink.  Speaking of Pear Pizazz, I'm not sure that I have mentioned the announcement made at Leadership, where we found out that our current Idea Book and Catalogue will be ending early this year on May 31 instead of June 30th.  May 31 will be the new cut off date for future publications. 

Anyway, what does this mean for you!? Well, it means that our favorite 2010-2012 In-Colors, including Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait, Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade and Concord Crush will be gone for good.  So make sure you stock up some ink pads, reinkers and card stock if any of these are a favorite of yours, cause once they're gone, they're gone!

So back to our card!  Guess you'd probably like to see what it looks like right?!  lol  Here it is:


The heart in the middle was stamped and then cut out with our heart framelits dies available in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalogue and the Pretty in Pink card stock has been texturized using our Vintage Embossing Folder.

P.S. I love you!

Hey Dolls!

I'm not typically a Valentine's Day lover....too commercial!  However, for some reason this year, I'm feeling the love!  Personally I think one of the reason's is the adorable stamp set in our 2012 Occasions Mini Catalogue; P.S. I love you!  It is such a cute set and I have seen the most adorable cards made with it!

Today's two projects, one card and one 3D project were created by Shelli and Sara for their Valentine's Day Class at home. 

I love this card so much because it is unique and sweet but also quick and easy!  To make this card, in addition to the P.S. I love you stamp set, you will need some textured Crumb Cake card stock and some Real Red and Basic Black card stock, and of course some Whisper White card stock to stamp on.  You will also need some Limited Edition Designer Series Paper or, if you have an older more yellow book on hand, rip a page out of that!  For ink you will need Real Red and Basic Black, preferably in the form of a marker, so that you can use it with the Spritzer Tool to get that spotted effect in the background.  You will also need some Linen Thread, a black brad from our neutrals collection, and the small heart punch.

This second, 3D projects are the little gifts that Shelli made for her grandkids.  You can't see it in this picture, but on the opposite side, Shelli wrote to "ABCD" from "G & G G" (Grandma and Grandpa Gardner)  I LOVE that!  So sweet!

The little extras on these sweet 3D Valentine's gifts are White Waffle Paper, 1/8" Black Taffeta ribbon and the little maze games available in the 2012 Occasions Mini!  The bag toppers are cut out with the Big Shot, using our using our Framelits Labels Collection, also available in the Mini!

Two Step Bird Punch January 29

Good Morning Dolls!

Sorry that there was no post yesterday!  It looks like I hit the wrong button when I set it up! 

Today's share is another Valentine Card.....I'm in the mood for love!  lol  I made today's card at a Shoe Box swap while at Leadership Convention in San Antonio this month.

 

The colors of today's card are crumb cake, early espresso and cherry cobbler as well as some read glimmer paper for good measure!  The punches used on the card were our Two Step Bird Punch and our small heart punch.  The stamp sets used were P.S. I love you and Best Friends Forever! The other accessories on the card are Cherry Cobbler Dotted Scallop Ribbon and Twitterpatted Designer Series Paper.

Today's card is the start of some Valentine's Day cards that I have to share with you.  This card in particular is a smorgesborg of the 2012 Occasions mini catalogue and the Sale.a.bration brochures!

Happy Hippo Valentine Punch Art

Morning Dolls!

Today's share is another totally adorable Punch Art card.  This one is over the top!  On a scale from 1 to Unfreakingbelievably adorable I woudl say it is an 11!  This was another card that was posted on the Spanish Leadership board.  I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

I also have some fabulous news to share with you all; I have earned the Stampin'Up! 2013 trip to Fiji!  That's right, I'm going to the South Pacific ladies!  As soon as I realized that I had earned the trip, I posted it as my facebook status.  Of course all of my wonderfully supportive followers and friends congratulated me and sent me warm thoughts; but my FAVORITE comment of all was from my Uncle Buddy.  My Uncle is in his late seventies and I would say he's pretty old school.  So, his comment to my status was ".....WHAT!???  You earned a trip to Fiji by making cards and books....you've got to be kidding!"  It was priceless!  Of course my answer was, I KNOW RIGHT......I get to do what I love, share it with others and then I get rewarded with a trip of a lifetime!  I love Stampin'Up!

Celebrating Us!

Morning Dolls!

Saturday was "Celebrate Us" day!  My buddies Patty Chenail, Rachel Bronson-Yurkanin, Dawn Rapsas, Debbie Naylor and Krisin Dutko-Grove figured out that between us all we left behind 6 husbands and 17 children......I would say that is a cause to "Celebrate us!"

So, on Saturday morning we started out the day like any smart woman would - we went shopping!  We had our cab driver take us to a Flea Market just outside San Antonio called Traders Village!

We bought ourselves Princess Tiara's to "Celebrate Us"! For the rest of the day, we got asked if we were celebrating a Bachelorette Party.  I had to laugh...every time Patty would respond that we were all already married and NONE of us were stupid enough to do it a second time!  lol

After shopping, we headed back to the hotel to change and get ready to see the Alamo and go on a River Boat Ride!

We had a late dinner at the #2 Steak House in all of the U.S.A; Bohanan's.  We were advised to go to the steak house by our cab driver, but he failed to mention how swanky it was!  We all felt severly under dressed and almost a bit embarassed!  Now, I'm sure that our reservations were decided long before the Host ever saw what we were wearing, but they had reserved for us our very own private room that had a door and everything......were they just trying to keep us segregated?!  LOL  Whatever, it didn't matter because we felt so much more relaxed and were able to just be ourselves.....which can be scary at times!  lol  Our waiter Antonio was a perfect fit and even shut the door a few times to tell us some "jokes" !!!  The food melted in our mouths and we thouroughly enjoyed rolling out the door when the meal was over!  Half of us could barely keep our eyes open in the cab on the way back to the hotel.  What a great way to end a lovely day and an exciting Leadership experience in the lovely San Antonio, Texas!

We all left at different times on Sunday and some of us got home earlier than others.....I finally made it home by 12:30 am! Here is all the free stuff that SU! gave me that I had to make fit in my luggage!

The project I have to share with you today was one of my favorite punch art cards from the Spanish display boards at Leadership!  Enjoy!

Mr. Nielson's Neighborhood

Good Morning Dolls!

Do I have a TREAT to share with you today!  So, in case you didn't see yesterday's post, I am back tracking to the last few days to share with you what we did during our Leadership Convention here in San Antonio, Texas.

On day two of Leadership (Friday) we got together in the morning for our General Session.  Scott Nielson, our CFO at Stampin'Up! is always given the task of reporting how the company is doing financially.  Scott can be very entertaining and always finds a clever way to make this not so exciting topic interesting and entertaining.  This time he chose to role play as Mr. Rogers and it was PRICELESS!  I am not sure how he will ever top this!

Scott created a wonderful My Digital Studio album to show all of the 2011 graphs and numbers.  What a great idea!

Probably my favorite moment of the whole presentation was when Mr. Nielson's doorbell rang and it was Mr. McWillis (Mr. McFeely on the Mr. Rogers show) with a package for Mr. Nielson -- and out came Spencer dressed up as the delivery man.

After the main stage presentation, we headed to our classes for the afternoon and then back once again to the main stage for some stamping with Shelli and a goodbye and closing comments from the Corporate Team.

 

My gang of friends decided to take an extra day and do some sight seeing here in San Antonio, so we will have this evening (Friday) for a fun dinner and then all day Saturday to check out the city!  I will be back tomorrow to show you pictures of all the fun we had!

Simply Scored Diagonal Plate

Hey Dolls, how ya'll doing?!  That's my Texas drawl speaking!  lol

It is unreal how you can be in a city as large and as great as San Antonio and have such HORRIBLE internet connections and phone service.  We have all been feeling so frustrated that we have such bad service.  Which is very interesting because one of the main subjects here during convention has been social media and Generation Y, how we communicate and interact with one another and how this affects Stampin'Up! and our stamping businesses.

Due to the poor service, I haven't been on top of blogging these last couple of days but I would still like to catch you up on what we did here in San Antonio!

Leadership started on Thursday with an opening welcome from Shelly and then some fun news and stamping with Donna Griffiths! Donna unveiled the brand-new Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, developed exclusively for Stampin' Up! This exciting addition to our Simply Scored line of products is perfect for scoring envelopes, boxes, and more.

This stack of boxes that Donna made for us were actually put together strictly using our new diagonal simnply scored tool and did not require any adhesive what so ever.  How exciting is that!

After Donna was done her demonstration, Shelli and Sara came back on stage and did a small bit on bridging the gap between the baby boomer generation, generation X and genereation Y.  It was super interesting!  Sara shared some of her "Mommy and Me" Valentine's that she will be doing at home with her friends and neighbors.

After General Session we headed to the Gathering Place for a yummy lunch!

In the afternoon we each attended our chosen classes and then Patty and I attended a Shoe Box swap in the evening!  I will have all the cards from that swap to show you over the coming weeks!  So make sure you check back often!

Greetings from San Antonio, Texas

Howdy Ya'll!  Greetings from the beautiful and sunny San Antonio, Texas!  I am here now for 5 days for Stampin'Up!'s 2012 Leadership conference and I'm having a blast!

I arrived yesterday afternoon and I enjoyed a wonderfully lazy day catching up with friends from across the U.S!  Specifically I met up with my roomies Patty, Dawn, Rachel, Kristin and Debbie!  We enjoyed our first stroll on the River Walk and a late afternoon lunch, some shopping, a massage and some yummy cookies!

Then, today was check in day when we received our free Leadership bag and goodies!  It is so Stinkin' Cute!  It is made with some sneak peek Stampin'Up! fabric and is actually completely reversible!

As if that wasn't exciting enough, when we headed over to our make and take table, we had yet another gorgeous hand sewn gift from Shelli Gardner herself!

The cute box had yummy chocolate snacks inside!

After make and takes we headed to Tony Roma's for lunch and then back to the hotel for a couple of glasses of wine and the hotel's "Manager's Reception"; not to be confused with Stampin'Up!'s Manager's Convention which started at 6 pm.  We went back over to the convention center for light hors d'oeuvres and entertainment by some Chinese Acrobats!  It was amazing!

Tomorrow we have a big shoe box swap, so I hope to be able to report back with a tonne of awesome ideas!  Until then,
